The Royal Canadian Legion Roberson Memorial Branch #17, located just 5.7 kilometres from our hotel in Medicine Hat, Alberta, is presenting a dinner theatre production set during the Golden Age of Canadian baseball, Nov. 14 in the Legion’s Ortano Room.

The Lord of Sceptre is a one-act play about a young man from Medicine Hat and the powerhouse baseball team from the tiny Saskatchewan town that barnstormed Western Canada and thrilled sports fans across the Prairies. 2. Cheer on the Hockey Hounds

Show your support of the Humboldt Broncos at this year’s Hockey Hounds 47th annual major bantam hockey tournament, Nov. 15-18. Watch as teams from Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and BC take over the ice at the Moose Recreation Centre, Kinplex 1 & 2, and the Hockey Hounds Rec Centre. Need accommodation? On Nov. 17 from 1-3 p.m., the Esplanade Arts and Heritage Centre is hosting the Passport to the Northwest Passage family event in conjunction with the upcoming exhibition, Echoes in the Ice, Finding Franklin’s Ship at the Heritage Gallery. Visitors can take part in investigative games and activities to uncover the mysteries and discover the story of the ill-fated expedition. If you can’t make this opening event, you can still catch the Echoes in the Ice exhibition, which continues at the Heritage Gallery until Feb. 16.


4. Have a Jersey Boys Christmas

Fans of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons will love this internationally renowned tribute to the original Jersey Boys. Named after one of the Four Seasons’ biggest hits, Oh What a Night! features a cast of tribute artists singing some of the most loved holiday classics, with a brand new tribute to Mr. Christmas himself, Andy Williams. The show takes place at the Esplanade Arts and Heritage Centre Nov. 28 at 7 p.m.
